4/10/16 SUNSET BEACH, POOL, COCO BISTRO

4/10/16  Since it's Sunday my husband makes breakfast like he does back home.  Eggs over easy, crispy bacon, rye toast, coffee.  Nice way to kick start the day.

Sunday morning breakfast at the condo

We decide to visit Cheshire Hall plantation.  Oops, it's closed!  Down Leeward Hwy. to where Walkin Marina/Heaving Down Rock is located.  Here is where the TCI ferry leaves to go to North Caicos.  The office building is open so I pick up the TCI ferry schedule, a map of North & Middle Caicos, and some other info.

Going to try to find Leeward Beach.  We're lost but are driving through an area of beautiful homes.  Finally on Governors Rd. and we see a sign for Sunset Beach.  It's not the beach we were hoping to find but oh well.......Not too rough as I can actually have a bit of a swim.  A few people here.  Richard decides to walk west towards some buildings which may be other resorts while I relax on our towels.  When he gets back he said he walked to the Venetian, maybe Club Med??  He's not sure which.  We stay here for about an hour as there is little to no shade.  Looking at some pictures of Leeward Beach I'm wondering if Sunset and Leeward are the same stretch of beach??????

Dinner-Coco Bistro.  A month ago I made this reservation for 7:30 pm and I'm so looking forward to it.  We get a bit more dressed up-Richard in long pants and a nice collar shirt, me in a black skirt, black lace top.  It's located right off Governors Road, not too far a drive from OCW.  Huge lighted parking area.  Ordinary entrance but once you are led to your table and feast your eyes on the setting......WOW!!  Tables set among a canopy of coconut palms and other tropical foliage.  It's just gorgeous.  Our server is Wesley-a handsome guy with a big smile who is just the best.  Looking at the menu I just don't know where to start.  Everything sounds like something I want.  Drinks-Coco Bistro secret recipe punch and a Dark N Stormy.  My punch is nice but it doesn't compare to my pina colada from Somewhere.  Richard's drink is made up of Gosling black rum, fresh lime, and Gosling ginger beer.  He likes it.  A nice basket of warm bread.  We decide to order a salad and split it.  I think the wedge salad sounds good.  Bad decision as it was so good we each would have wanted the entire salad to ourselves!  It was anything but an ordinary wedge of iceberg lettuce.  It had been lightly grilled (could see the grill marks) but the lettuce was still very crisp.  Cherry tomatoes, fried strips of chorizo, red onion slices. Crumbled gorgonzola cheese.  The dressing made this salad truly special.  Homemade blue cheese dressing, apple juice, balsamic vinegar, merlot wine combined together puts this wedge salad into orbit.  Entrees-Richard orders the pepper crusted rare local tuna with tropical fruit salsa and a lime/ginger sauce.  Sesame crusted rice balls and grilled asparagus al dente.  Sitting on a red pepper sauce.  Tuna was perfectly cooked.  Slap it on the grill, immediately flip it over, and then slide it on to a plate.  This was one of Richard's top meals that he had  The other was a tuna at another place which will be discussed later.  For overall marks Cocco Bistro was #1 for him.  I decide to try the West Indian shrimp curry with coconut rice, banana chutney, grilled garlic flatbread, and grilled asparagus.  My curry had the right amount of heat for me.  I like spicy but not too spicy.  Lots of huge shrimp-maybe 10-12 of them.  OMG.  Yes, I do have just a smidgen of room for dessert.  Coco Bistro's famous coconut pie.  A huge slice on a bed of sweet sauces.  Best coconut pie ever!  Richard ordered ice cream-Tiger Tail-Grand Marnier & licorice.  Delicious and he wouldn't share!  10% gratuity added to the bill.  Cost without extra tip $162.26  Reasonable for the quantity and quality of food we had.  I could eat here every night of the week.  Closed Mondays.
